Commercial Renewable Heating Systems
The Non-Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (“RHI”) offers index-linked support over 20 years for eligible biomass, solar thermal, heat pump and CHP installations. Once you are accepted onto the scheme, your index linked tariff rate stays the same for the full 20 years and is not affected by any future decisions to reduce the tariff through degression.
The scheme is for businesses, the public sector and non-profit organisations using renewables for space heating, hot water or process heating within a building. You can also apply for the Non-Domestic scheme if your renewable heating system serves two or more domestic properties. Heat can be used for cleaning or drying on a commercial basis.
To qualify for the scheme the plant must be new and any equipment under 45 kW must have Microgeneration Certification Scheme (“MCS”) certification. The equipment must use liquid or steam to deliver heat. Meters will be installed to read eligible heat used and your quarterly payments will be based on your submitted meter readings.
All wood fuel used must be purchased from a supplier registered on the Biomass Suppliers List (“BSL”). If you have your own woodland, you can register on the BSL as a self-supplier.
There is plenty of further information regarding the scheme on the Ofgem website, or please call us if you would like to discuss your requirements.
